Australian Muay Thai Promotions presents Battle Colossal III coming to Perth?s Western Australian Italian Club on Saturday May 17, 2008.

It was fitting that a meeting designed to broaden the reach of Muay Thai took place next door to one of the historical stadiums that has created so many of its greatest stars.

Local underdog Ed Monso finished strongly to win the WBC International Super Heavyweight Title in Arhus, Denmark on 8 March. Hometown favourite Monso overpowered Goran Radonjic who came to the contest with the experience of 52 fights for 37 wins. But Moson's unbeaten 10-10 record proved that he was a worthy contender when he used leg kicks and powerful grappling to take the title in the WBC's heaviest division with both opponents facing each other at 105 kg.
For the first two rounds it appeared that Radonjic would outshine Monso with his kick-punch combinations, but the local hero showed enough in the clinches to indicate that he could cause an upset. From the third round on - as Monso's confidence rose - he applied scorecard pressure. The fourth round saw Monso get his knees weapons working well, and he finished off with a blistering final round as the aggressor seldom taking a backwards step.
All three judges awarded the title to Monso to the wild rapture of the partisan local crowd.
